The Institute of Opto-electronic Engineering was established in 2006 with a Master's degree program. The Department of Opto-electronic was then founded in 2010 because of this well-developing field and huge demand for the opto-electronic industry. The department is responsible for both undergraduate teaching and administrative affairs. Recently opto-electronic engineering becomes one of the preferred choices for high school students who are interested in sciences or engineering. Our department attracts many top and active high school students. The faculty members are young and actively engaged in research. Research grants of ~ 10 million NT dollars per year and contracts are awarded by governmental and institutions. IEEE or SCI papers about research contribution are published in journals by the faculty members. Research outcome together with teaching experience have made our department one of the most competitive departments within the University.
